Virgin Atlantic (VS) – introduces more choice with fare families in their Economy cabin

Amadeus is pleased to announce that Virgin Atlantic (VS) has today made changes to the fare structure of its Economy cabin and will now offer a choice of 3 Economy products – Economy Light, Economy Classic and Economy Delight.

Additionally, Virgin Atlantic will also offer Rich Content on these fare families to provide imagery of the seats being offered.

The introduction of these fare families will mean passengers have an increased choice on how they want to travel and the services that are included for them.

Accessing the Fare Families
On the routes where these fare families are available, fare family upsell codes and commands can be used in the pricing entries to access the upsell options. Agents on Amadeus Selling Platform Classic and Amadeus Selling Platform Connect who do not currently have access to Amadeus airline fare families should contact their Amadeus Account Manager.

In order to access and upsell to the “Economy Classic” and “Economy Delight” fares, agents using Amadeus web services will need to develop against Amadeus airline fare families. This will enable agents to obtain all the upsell options available for a selected set of flights along with the fare family descriptive text and  rich content.

What does this mean for you as the Travel Agent?
The implementation of Virgin Atlantic fare families will allow travel agents to further personalise the traveller experience. Agents will now have easy access to transparent and clear air content, so are able to see the services included in different fare families, the fare conditions at the time of pricing and the upsell fare families’ options available on Virgin Atlantic.
Virgin Atlantic fare families on Amadeus help travel agents to make informed decisions for their customers, offer better customer service and create additional revenue opportunities through your own mark ups and service fees for you as travel agents when upselling.
